Jan's studio is in Seattle, Washington. She teaches digital fine art at South Seattle Community College. Jan is a member of Northwest Designer Craftsmen, and a frequent visitor to a beach cabin on Whidbey Island.

Artist Statement:

"When I was 4 or 5 years old, while the other kids were drawing stick figures, I was painting abstracts. By the time I was in college, I realized I was working like Rothko & Frankenthaler. These days, I still approach my work as a painter does, although my interest in color and texture is triggered by fiber and wire. My subjects are usually commentaries on human nature. I work my palette of fibers and wire into a color field painting that tells a little story."
